Rock Garden

Nek Chand's sculpture garden, built from waste and started in 1957. Every turn gives you something to talk about, and Sukhna Lake is next door for after. Adults ₹30, open from 9 am.
Sector 17 Plaza
Sector 17, Chandigarh
The city's open-air centre of shops and eateries, along tree-lined walkways. It's central and busy, and easy to switch cafés or call it a day. The market runs 10 am to 10:30 pm.
Government Museum and Art Gallery
Sector 10, Chandigarh
Gandhara sculpture and Pahari miniatures under one roof. It's indoors and calm, with plenty to talk about. Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm, ₹30.

Mohali
Mohali's best-known food market, packed with cafés, bakeries and restaurants. Go in the daytime or early evening. Late nights here get rowdy.
Cactus Garden
Sector 5, Panchkula
A national garden of cacti and succulents with nine glass houses, half a kilometre from Panchkula bus stand. Easy to reach and unlike anywhere else nearby. ₹10 entry. In summer it closes for a midday break.
